Egg Drop - Korea’s Premium Gourmet Egg Sandwiches in Thailand
Egg Drop is a South Korean franchise restaurant that serves Premium Gourmet Egg Sandwiches and they currently have more than 290 stores all over Korea. This place has been garnering social media attention since 2017 due to their Instagram-able sandwiches!
The first time I’ve ever heard of Egg Drop was from Korean Englishman. I thought to myself, “Egg sandwiches? how good can they be?”, but when I saw how excited and amazed they were at a simple egg sandwich I made it my goal to try one one day.

Flagship Store in the Center of Bangkok!
Fast forward a few years and someone has bought a franchise to open a flagship store right here in Siam Square, Bangkok!
Located within the first floor of the CenterPoint building, this place is hard to miss due to its bright red, white, and steel colors which gives off a retro American style diner vibe.
As I’ve said before, I’ve been hearing about Egg Drop for a long while now and I am very excited to finally give this place a try!
A little note, Korean culture is very very VERY over-hyped right now in Thailand (Thanks to our nation’s pride, Lalisa Manoban). So I want to warn you and myself to temper your expectations when you see anything Korean in Thailand.
This applies heavily to Egg Drop (Which I will explain later on) and another Korean café that recently opened in Siam Square, Mil’s Toast House.

Egg Sandwiches and What Else?
The menu is simple and straight forward, Egg Sandwiches! Although there is a wide variety to choose from. There’s
Bacon and Egg and Cheese
Ham and Cheese
Avocado
And so much more!
You can even get ones with garlic bread instead of the regular buttered toast.
Hash Browns
Another item they are known for is the hash browns. When I went I didn’t get one as I just stopped by for a quick bite and only wanted to focus on the sandwiches.
Pricing
Now the pricing is a little bit high for what it is, gourmet or not, these are egg sandwiches coming from a fast food-esque style chain restaurant and they shouldn’t cost much especially in Thailand.
You can expect a single sandwich to cost 130 THB (3.80 USD) which seams reasonable enough but I’ll explain a little bit more later why I think the price should be adjusted.
Garlic Bacon Cheese Sandwich
I LOVE eggs, and I was very excited to try these.
Thanks to Reverend Christ’s praise on the garlic bread, I, of course, had to order one with garlic bread, and I love bacon so I choose the one that has that as well.
One downside was that I ordered my sandwich through a kiosk and I had to wait about ~30 minutes until my order was ready. There wasn’t a lot of people, in fact it was quite empty. The issue seems to be that the place was short staffed or that their process of making the food wasn’t very efficient.
But once I’ve gotten hold of my sandwich… Oh my, now I understand why Egg Drop was making waves all over Instagram. These sandwiches look absolutely beautiful.
It helps that the colors of the ingredients (bacon and cheese) are all vibrant and pops out when you take a photo.
We Bangkokians (or just Thais in general), love our sweets and desserts, much like the popularity of Korean and Japanese foods, us Thais love Taiwanese Bubble Tea, and Bearhouse Desserts and Milk Tea has a special offer for set menu items at a really good price! From what I can tell the ingredients are quite simple:
Thick cut garlic bread that is crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.
A generous amount of fluffy scrambled eggs
Some honestly sad looking bacon
A slice of process cheddar cheese
The sauces from what I can tell are:
Sweet Japanese mayonnaise
Some sort of Thousand Island dressing-like sauce.
The taste of everything was good. It was buttery, garlicky, eggy, cheesy, all the other adjectives with “-y”s.
But I find that with the addition of the mayo and the thousand island sauce, it was really sweet.
Now here comes my issue with the pricing. The sandwiches are “gourmet” in the sense that they have more ingredients compared to egg sandwiches you find in other fast food places. But the quality of the ingredients aren’t really “gourmet”.
You can literally make this at home for yourself with simple ingredients you can buy at your local supermarket and you would come pretty close to replicating the exact flavor of these sandwiches.
I think if the price was maybe 15 or 20 THB cheaper, say 110 THB (3.20 USD), then I’d say these make for a more compelling purchase.
Addressing Korean Culture in Thailand
Looking at the Google Map reviews of Egg Drop, I see a lot of people who were disappointed or expected something a lot more taste-wise from these Egg Sandwiches. Especially from Thai people.
What these people forget is that Egg Drop is just another regular egg sandwich shop in Korea, a grab and go sort of place, sure they serve gourmet egg sandwiches, but they’re still viewed as fast food with over 290 locations across South Korea.
Egg Drop is special because they serve gourmet egg sandwiches. But at the end of the day, it’s an egg sandwich. It’s a damn good egg sandwich sure, better than anything you can find at a McDonalds or Burger King. But it’s not going to be mind-blowing just because it’s Korean.
Conclusion
My feelings about Egg Drop are mixed. On the one hand, I am disappointed in the shortcomings this place has. On the other hand I really enjoyed their egg sandwiches.
Pros
Full of fluffy scrambled eggs, if you love eggs then these are perfect for you.
Tasty and filling, the sandwiches are pretty big.
Cons
Long wait times about 20-30 minutes.
Seems to be short staffed, no one cleaned the tables.
A little over-priced.
Overall, I would suggest you check this place out, but I wouldn’t tell you to go out of your way to come here. The sandwiches are really tasty and is perfect for anyone who loves eggs. These are also pretty big so they could serve as your lunch.
While some things are not so good such as the long wait times and price being a bit too high for what it is.
Just temper your expectations when you come here and don’t fall for the hype.
